This is a news release from CapitaLand Limited.

Singapore, 17 March 2009 – A total of 106 CapitaLand properties in Singapore, Australia, China, Malaysia and Vietnam will be participating in Earth Hour on Saturday 28 March 2009. This is the second year running that CapitaLand is supporting this global campaign to fight global warming and the first year that CapitaLand’s overseas properties are joining the campaign.

At 8.30pm on 28 March 2009, CapitaLand’s offices, retail malls and serviced
residences in these five countries will mark Earth Hour by turning off their façade lights for one hour. However, emergency lighting and security systems will function normally to ensure that safety and security are not compromised.

Besides turning off lights, CapitaLand will be supporting the global climate change initiative through other activities. In the lead-up to Earth Hour, CapitaLand employees in almost 40 cities will be organising activities to increase awareness among fellow employees, retail mall and office tenants, and serviced residence guests on the importance of conserving energy. This will contribute towards World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) global Earth Hour target of one billion participants in one thousand cities across the globe.

CapitaLand’s Earth Hour Activities in Singapore

In Singapore, 13 CapitaLand retail malls, including Raffles City, Plaza Singapura, Bugis Junction and Junction 8, will turn off their façade lights during Earth Hour. The façades of office buildings like Capital Tower, One George Street and Robinson Point, and Ascott’s serviced residence properties such as Ascott Singapore Raffles Place and Citadines Mount Sophia will also go dark.

In addition, CapitaLand is the sole venue sponsor for the WWF Earth Hour roadshows in the two weeks leading up to Earth Hour. Between 19 and 28 March, WWF will be holding roadshows at properties such as Bugis Junction, Market Street Car Park, Capital Tower and One George Street to encourage Singaporeans to participate in Earth Hour 2009. Supporters interested in getting involved in Earth Hour 2009 can sign up at www.earthhour.org or visit WWF’s booth at the roadshows.

For the whole month of March, the CapitaLand email signature has included a reminder about Earth Hour and to turn lights off. CapitaLand has also encouraged its retail mall and office tenants and serviced residence guests to participate in Earth Hour by sending specially-designed Earth Hour posters to them.

Wilkie Edge, a mixed-use development at Selegie Road, has sponsored airtime for WWF’s Earth Hour video and advertisement, which will be screened on the façade’s media wall between 23 and 28 March, from 6pm to 10pm. The media wall will also be turned off at 8.30 pm for Earth Hour. During that week, the Earth Hour video and advertisement will also be screened during lunch time on the LCD display screens in the Robinson Point, Six Battery Road and Starhub Centre lifts.
