International Recognition for BCA Singapore and its Green Building Masterplan [Press Releases]

Singapore, 6 December 2011 – The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has been conferred the inaugural Regional Leadership Award, one of the six World Green Building Council Government Leadership Awards, for its exceptional Green Building Masterplan and efforts in steering the construction industry towards sustainable development in Singapore, and leadership in the green building movement in Asia Pacific.

The annual World Green Building Council Government Leadership Awards highlights world-leading government policies that maximize the opportunity of buildings to mitigate carbon emissions in the environment. WorldGBC’s Chief Executive Officer, Jane Henley said, “The WorldGBC’s ‘Regional Leadership Award’ recognises the outstanding vision and commitment of Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority. We congratulate the Singapore Government for developing a Masterplan that sets minimum environmental standards for building codes, provides incentives for the private sector and promotes research, development and capacity building. 2nd Singapore Green Building Week: Day One

The 2nd Green Building Week opens today with three concurrent events – the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) International Congress 2010, the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) Green Building Conference, and the BEX Asia 2010 exhibition. Some 7,ooo visitors are expected during the week, including architects, engineers, consultants, developers, regulators, contractors, interior designers and building professionals. Read more

200 exhibiting companies from the region and beyond to showcase Build Eco products at Southeast Asia’s biggest green gathering – BEX Asia 2010

Eco Event to Coincide with Announcement of Singapore’s own Green Product Certification by SGBC

(Singapore, September 06, 2010) – In one week, over 200 exhibiting companies from more than 20 countries internationally will showcase their latest environmentally-friendly building products, technologies, concepts and solutions at BEX Asia 2010, Southeast Asia’s premier Build Eco Xpo.

The three-day expo which is held in Singapore from 13-15 September will showcase major global players like BASF, Carrier, EnGro Corporation Limited, Johnson Controls, KONE, Interface, Sanyo and Trane and many more from the region and beyond including the United States, Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand.

The event will be held alongside the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) International Congress 2010 – held for the first time in Asia – and the inaugural Singapore Green Building Council’s (SGBC) ‘Green Building Conference’. Read more

International Green Building Conference and BEX Asia 2009

The inaugural International Green Building Conference (IGBC) 2009 was held recently in Singapore as part of the Singapore Green Building Week. The conference theme was “Build Green. The Future is Now.” and drew about 1,000 delegates from more than 20 countries to focus on sustainable building issues, green building technologies and designs.

During the conference, the new Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) was launched to help lead and coordinate the building industry’s efforts, together with the government, and accelerate the development of green buildings.

As part of the Singapore Green Building Week, there was also a building exhibition, BEX Asia 2009, which showcases green-related products and services for the building industry. Here are some photos taken at the exhibition:
